New Perspectives for Media Art:

Production Promotion for Media Art – New Models, Perspectives, Locations

The one-day event addresses mediators and promoters of media art such as exhibition makers and museum executives, curators, journalists, politicians and functionaries. The topic revolves around potential measures of production promotion in media art especially for young artists not yet well-known in the art market. Within this framework, new contemporary models of production promotion are being presented and explained. Central questions regarding the requirement of production promotion for media art as well as potential promotion forms are being picked up on and discussed by the podium and the audience.

The media arts are claiming continuously growing space on the borderline between the fine arts and film. Works of this genre can be experienced not only at festivals and in galleries but increasingly in the urban public space or in classical museum contexts. However, production possibilities and production promotion have not expanded at the equal pace. Especially young artists who have concluded their studies at art academies hardly find support that allows them to continue their work and to develop it further. In order to counterbalance this disparity new perspectives and promotion models have to be developed or existing innovative approaches in other fields and regions have to be examined as additional potential promotion forms.

A documentation of the works of the artists Jeanne Faust, Corinna Schnitt and David Zink Yi produced by the Sammlung Rheingold is presented in the foyer.

Thursday 22nd of January, 18:30 pm Opening of the Exhibition Jeanne Faust – „Excuse me brother“ (Museum Ludwig); 19:30 pm Artist Talk between Jeanne Faust and Georg Elben, artistic director of Videonale Bonn.
